Project Update: Philippines – September 2026

For three long months, Salvi lay in the ICU, silent, motionless, and caught between life and death. Machines breathed for her. Tubes fed her. Doctors began preparing her family for the worst.
Salvi had once known God, but life’s struggles, distractions, and disappointments slowly pulled her away from Him. Her spiritual life had become distant and quiet, but God had not forgotten her.
In her deep coma, Salvi began to wake up inside. She heard people crying. She heard whispered conversations about funeral plans. Some spoke of her as if she were dead. She still could not speak or open her eyes, but in the darkness, she felt something she had not felt in years: the presence of God. “Make your life right with Me,” a small voice whispered.
Around her bed, family members stood grieving. Then someone gasped. Salvi’s hand had moved! Slowly, weakly, but undeniably she gestured as if asking for food. The sorrowful room filled with cries of disbelief.
The doctors were astonished. The family was overwhelmed. After months of silence, Salvi was returning to life. When Salvi finally awoke and recovered enough to speak, she shared her experience of hearing the voices. She told how God had called to her heart. She began searching—not for the life she once had, but for a church where she could start again with God.
As Salvi recovered, a new Seventh-day Adventist church opened very close to her house. Miraculously, she walked past the church on a Saturday and was drawn in to listen. God brought me here for a reason, she realized. She asked lots of questions after the service, which the church members willing answered. Soon she was having Bible studies in her home with a group of dedicated Seventh-day Adventists. Going through the Bible doctrines comforted her heart, as she learned the truth about God’s Sabbath, death, Heaven, and Jesus’ soon return.
After her baptism, Salvi could not contain the joy in her heart. With enthusiasm, she shared the truths she had learned with her family and friends and told them what Jesus had done in her life. She invited them to study the Bible with her, and several of them responded. Soon she had a small group studying together.
From a comatose loved one to a living witness, Salvi is a beautiful example of Christ’s love for the lost and the Holy Spirit’s ability to work in the heart.
