Selma’s Journey, Part 2
A curious student enlists in Bible training.
Years passed since our high school days, and our paths once again crossed. “Come to church with me,” Matthew encouraged. “You won’t regret it.” When he asked me if I would be interested in joining the Bright Star Bible School, I felt excitement grow in my heart. This was an opportunity I finally felt ready for! I eagerly signed up.
I believe that God led me to the Bible school because there I learned how to carefully study the Scriptures and allow the Bible to explain itself. I discovered the beauty of God’s truth. For the first time, I understood that the Sabbath was established by God at Creation (Genesis 2:1–3), faithfully observed by His people throughout the Old Testament, honored by Jesus during His earthly ministry, and even respected by His followers after His death (Luke 23:54–56). I also discovered the Sabbath’s purpose—to identify God’s people, to strengthen our relationship with Him, and to help us know Him more intimately (Ezekiel 20:20).
Beyond the Sabbath, I was taught about righteousness by faith, the state of the dead, Jesus’ second coming, and prophecies in the books of Daniel and Revelation, all of which helped me to gain a clearer understanding of God’s plan for His children living in the last days. The lessons I received over two years in the Bible school grounded me in the foundational beliefs of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and transformed not only my understanding, but also my entire way of life. They prepared my heart to make the decision to be baptized.

Looking back, I realize that my journey began with one student who cared enough to approach another student sitting alone. A simple conversation, a sheet of Scriptures, and an invitation to a Bible study became the means that God used to change my life forever.
Today, I thank God for Bright Star Ministries and everyone who invested their time, prayers, and resources to make the work of this ministry possible. Because of faithful supporters who believe in sharing the everlasting gospel, young people like me living in a Lutheran-dominant country can discover biblical teachings and surrender their lives to Jesus Christ.
My story is living proof that every Bible study, every missionary effort, and every gift given to support God’s work in Namibia can change a life for eternity—my life being one of them. Thank you for partnering in this mission!
Namibia presents a tremendous opportunity to train and equip young people for gospel service. We are raising funds to establish a training school and support Bible workers who are committed to sharing the everlasting gospel throughout the region. This project will provide practical biblical training, evangelistic experience, and spiritual mentoring for those who desire to serve Christ. Your support will help prepare a new generation of workers to reach souls for God’s kingdom. Please prayerfully consider partnering with Mission Projects International in this new project as we help build a strong foundation for evangelism in Namibia.
