The Everlasting Gospel
“The heavens will vanish away like smoke, the earth will grow old like a garment, and those who dwell in it will die in like manner; but My salvation will be forever, and My righteousness will not be abolished.” Isaiah 51:6, NKJV.
Although it is hard for us to comprehend, the Bible makes it very clear that everything we see is only temporary, while the things we don’t see are eternal. Only one thing in our lives has everlasting results: the gospel.
The gospel is everlasting because it reveals an unchanging God with an unchanging plan of salvation. From the moment sin entered the world, God promised a Redeemer, and that promise has never failed. Across centuries, cultures and continents, the same good news remains true: Salvation is found in Jesus Christ alone.
Human governments rise and fall, ideas change and traditions fade, but the gospel endures because it is rooted in God’s character—His love, justice and mercy. Christ’s sacrifice is sufficient for every generation. No new truth can replace it, and no passing philosophy can improve upon it.
The gospel is everlasting because it meets humanity’s deepest needs: forgiveness, restoration and victory. As long as sin exists, the everlasting gospel will showcase God’s power to save to the uttermost. It is “the mystery which has been hidden from ages and from generations, but now has been revealed to His saints. To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery . . . which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.” Colossians 1:26, 27.
“The message proclaimed by the angel flying in the midst of heaven is the everlasting gospel, the same gospel that was declared in Eden when God said to the serpent, ‘I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed.’ ” Manuscript Releases, vol. 17, 7.
I pray that each of us will be sanctified by obedience to the messages of Revelation 14!
