Project update: Nicaragua – June 2026
“There is need of coming close to the people by personal effort.” The Ministry of Healing, 143. But sometimes, God’s ministers can get close to people only through the radio. For decades, Radio Adventista de Nicaragua—Advent Stereo 92.7 FM—has been doing exactly that: reaching people right where they are in their homes, workplaces, and even taxis! Through radio waves, God has been speaking personally to thousands in Managua, Nicaragua.
Iván Pérez is a humble, hardworking man who first encountered the Adventist message through Advent Stereo. As he listened, truths from the Bible unfolded in ways he had never understood before. For a time, Iván became active in the Seventh-day Adventist Church. When family challenges arose, however, he drifted from the church. Still, he never stopped listening to Advent Stereo.
As a taxi driver in Managua, Iván felt exhausted by the long days of traffic, blowing horns, and constant movement. But inside his taxi, something sacred remained. Advent Stereo continued to speak—through sermons, hymns, and testimonies that nurtured his connection with God. “Even when I wasn’t in church,” Iván reflects, “the radio kept my hope alive. It reminded me that God had not let me go.”
One afternoon, while driving through the city, Iván heard an announcement on Advent Stereo about an upcoming evangelistic campaign at the Nueva Jerusalén Seventh-day Adventist Church. “Maybe I’ll go out of curiosity,” he said to himself. But later he realized, “It wasn’t curiosity—it was God calling me again.” Iván attended the first night. Then the next. Soon, he was there every evening, listening to the messages of salvation, the Sabbath, and the love of Jesus. They reminded him of the hope he had nearly lost.
On Friday night, the preacher called for baptism. “I felt the Holy Spirit speaking to me,” Iván recalls. “I knew it was time to surrender.” After studying through a series of Bible studies, Iván was baptized. He returned to church with a renewed purpose—and this time, he brought his family with him. “My life began to change,” he says. “I had new hope, new strength, and a new direction.”
Some time later, Iván faced a serious health crisis. A diabetic complication led to a severe infection, and despite medical care, his leg had to be amputated above the knee. Although devastated, Iván said, “I know the Lord has a purpose for my life. His love has not changed.”
Now confined to his home, Iván found comfort in the same ministry that had first reached him years before. “The radio was with me in my taxi,” he explains. “Now it is with me at home, connecting me to God.” Iván continues to recover, holding firmly to his faith. His testimony is a powerful reminder that God never stops pursuing His children—and that even simple tools like a radio broadcast can become instruments of eternal change.

Please pray for Iván and for the evangelistic work in Nicaragua, and please partner with us in preaching the Three Angels’ Messages in this country. Mark your gifts “Nicaragua Bible Workers” or “Nicaragua Radio.”
Yours in speaking the truth in love!
