Technology assists a brother and sister’s return to the Lord.

Our family lost much the year my parents separated. It was more than losing our mother’s presence in our day-to-day lives. I could not have explained it at the time, but now I know: We lost our connection with God.

Always before, my father, sister and I had regularly attended church. Because of all the family difficulties, though, we stopped going. Our father did his best to raise us with strong principles and values, including respect for God and upright living. Thanks to his guidance, we avoided many harmful influences and maintained our belief in God—but the loss of our church community left us floundering for identity.

One Saturday afternoon, some of our neighbors came to visit, accompanied by Pastor Alexis Vásquez. They invited us to attend church, and the pastor offered to study the Bible with us. My sister Irma and I gladly accepted. It seemed like the answer to a need we had not understood but deeply felt.

The pastor explained that he would study with us through WhatsApp every Sunday. I am only 20, so a phone study felt exciting. The very next day, we began. The pastor sent an audio message that included a prayer and an introduction to the topic. He then sent questions for us to answer, with specific Bible verses for us to look up. We sent back audio messages of us reading the Scriptures aloud. The pastor replied with another audio, explaining the meaning of the verses in a clear and personal way.

We also used WhatsApp polls to answer questions, selecting what we believed to be correct. The pastor would guide us, confirming our answers or gently correcting us when unbiblical ideas from our past crept up. Sometimes he sent images with key points or illustrations that helped us understand the lessons better. Each study ended with a closing prayer, which helped us feel connected to God and to one another.

As the weeks passed, our interest grew stronger. We looked forward to every Sunday, eager to continue learning. What began as curiosity soon became a deep desire to know God more personally.

When one of the church ladies offered to organize a worship service in our home, my father, sister and I happily accepted. That evening, the pastor came to preach, and many people from our community attended. Our home filled with joy as God drew us close.

Later that month, the church held special evangelistic meetings titled “The Conflict of the Ages.” The messages, which focused on prophecy and God’s plan for humanity, awakened our desire to give our lives to Jesus.

During the meetings, the pastor visited our home to complete the Bible studies we had been receiving and answer any questions we still had. When he spoke to us about baptism and what it means to fully surrender to Christ, my sister and I knew we were ready. At the end of that week, we were baptized along with three others. We could not have been happier joining the family of God. Our lives, once hollow, now filled with hope and purpose!

I thank God for sending our neighbors and Pastor Alexis to our home. Through a simple invitation to study on WhatsApp, our lives have been completely transformed. We love to serve in our church, especially in the Sabbath School department and the audiovisual team.

Please pray for our father, Saúl, that he, too, may soon return to the ways of God. God found us in a simple way—but it changed everything.
