Project Update: Honduras – August 2025

“The promise of the Holy Spirit is not limited to any age or to any race. Christ declared that the divine influence of His Spirit was to be with His followers unto the end. From the Day of Pentecost to the present time, the Comforter has been sent to all who have yielded themselves fully to the Lord and to His service. To all who have accepted Christ as a personal Saviour, the Holy Spirit has come as a counselor, sanctifier, guide, and witness.” Acts of the Apostles, 49.

Karla is a joyful member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Honduras, but her journey to God’s remnant church wasn’t quick or easy. It was a long walk of faith, obedience, and transformation. Karla grew up in Colón, Honduras, in a devout Catholic family. As a child, she became acquainted with some of the Adventist families in her neighborhood, and noticed them going to church on Saturday to keep what they called “the Sabbath,” but she didn’t know much else about their religion.

Years later, Karla and her husband started a family and relocated to Trujillo to set up their own business. With two children and life ahead of them, they still felt a lack for something in their lives, so they began attending the early morning mass at the Catholic Church, often rising at 4 or 5 a.m. to get their kids ready. Still, Karla couldn’t shake the sense that something was missing. Her inner longing led her to buy a Bible and read it, looking for answers to the many questions she had. She felt a need to be baptized, but within the Catholic Church, but couldn’t find clear guidance.

During this time, her brother—who wasn’t a Christian—encouraged Karla to seek out an Adventist church. “They teach straight from the Bible,” he said. Karla did look for a church near her, but without success. Then one day, she and her husband learned that a trusted employee lived near an Adventist church, and they had unknowingly passed the church many times!

The following Sabbath, Karla took her children to that church. From the moment she arrived, the church members welcomed her with kindness and without pressure. They gave her Sabbath School materials and invited her to study the Bible together once a week.

As Karla learned more, she realized that she and her family would need to make important changes before baptism. Most notably, they would need to close the business on Saturdays. Although difficult, Karla and her husband knew the changes were necessary. After reorganizing the business and giving their employees Saturdays off, they suffered no loss of income. On the contrary, the business grew more than they could have expected!

Many other families like Karla’s still need to be reached in Honduras, and you can help support the work. Your gifts support Bible workers who are doing a tremendous work in Honduras’s La Ceiba region. God is moving upon hearts, families are being transformed, and churches are growing. But the workers can’t do it without your help. Please continue praying for and giving to the work in Honduras!

Yours in reaching the lost!

How You Can Help!

The harvest is great in Honduras, and God is opening doors for the gospel! In La Ceiba and surrounding districts, dedicated Bible workers are faithfully going house to house, sharing the good news of salvation and planting new churches where no Seventh-day Adventist presence has existed before. Through Bible studies, public evangelistic meetings, and personal ministry, hearts are being touched and lives transformed. Yet, the need is urgent—these workers depend on your support to continue. You can help sustain a Bible worker and keep this Bible worker seeking those that are lost. Will you partner with us to advance God’s work in Honduras?

Please keep the work in Honduras in your prayers. God is doing great things to advance His message in this strongly Catholic country.

May God continue to bless you!
