“It is not enough to believe the theory of truth… Whatever our profession, it amounts to nothing unless Christ is revealed in works of righteousness.” —Christ’s Object Lessons, p. 312
From the beginning, Deivi showed a remarkable interest in the Bible lessons given by his aunt Nancy. Being so young, his eyes would light up when learning about Jesus, the Ten Commandments, and especially the Sabbath. He eagerly listened, asked thoughtful questions, and began a personal habit of rising early to pray and read his Bible. He couldn’t help sharing his newfound faith with everyone he encountered around town.
His mother, Celene, played a key role in nurturing his faith. Her consistent support and reverence for God helped shape a spiritual atmosphere in their home. One Sabbath, local church members held a special Holy Communion service on their farm. It was a sacred moment that left a deep impression on the entire family.

But challenges came. For a time, the family stopped attending church. Tensions with Celene’s partner, Enderson—who leaned toward another denomination—added strain. Yet God was not finished with them.
During a special week of prayer on home and family, organized by the Peniel Adventist Church in La Unión Valle and led by Brother Miguel Echeverry, Celene and Deivi reconnected with the church. When the team visited their home, they were moved by Deivi’s bold conviction. Despite his age, he had made a firm decision: he wanted to be baptized. He spoke clearly about his desire to keep the Sabbath and follow Jesus for the rest of his life. His understanding of Bible truth was solid, and Celene fully supported his decision.
Deivi’s dream was fulfilled. Under the bright midday sun, Deivi was baptized, marking the joyful close of the evangelism campaign. Pastor Abdiel Trejos presided over the baptism along with two of the elders of the local church. It was a Sabbath filled with blessing and celebration to see two committed souls surrender to the Lord. In the weeks that followed, a small worship group formed at Celene’s home with special attention to the children, especially Deivi. Singing, Bible stories, and fellowship nurtured their continued growth. Now living in Cali, Deivi and his family remain connected to their faith.
What makes Deivi’s story especially powerful is his deep personal conviction. He doesn’t just believe the truth—he lives it. He can explain why the Sabbath matters and often speaks of Jesus’ soon return to those he comes in contact. He has even told others that he hopes to become a pastor one day. Though life presents many challenges, we pray God continues to guide and protect this young disciple. Deivi is a living testimony that the Holy Spirit speaks to all hearts, no matter the age. His love for the Bible and unwavering commitment to truth continue to inspire everyone around him.
The Bible workers at Los Delicious in the central part of Colombia are planting new churches, strengthening the many established churches, and ministering to families. Help us continue supporting the Bible workers in Colombia as they spread the Three Angels’ Messages in South America. Please mark your gifts “Colombia Workers.”

Yours in taking the gospel message to Colombia!

| How You Can Help! Juvenal serves as the evangelism director for the Las Delicias ministry in central Colombia. He leads a dedicated team of experienced young Bible workers who travel into villages—some with an Adventist presence and others completely unreached. His team goes door to door, seeking out individuals who are open to spiritual things. Often, Bible studies are started with the families they meet. Following Christ’s method of ministry—mingling with the people, showing sympathy, meeting their needs, and winning their confidence—they pave the way for souls to be reached. As a result, new churches are planted or existing congregations grow as more are added to the Remnant. Through God’s help they have opened a number of churches in areas where there are no Adventists and they have brought many people to the Lord. You can help us continue supporting these frontline workers. For just $75 per month, you can sponsor a Bible worker to reach searching hearts in forgotten places. Please keep them in your prayers as they battle on the front lines of the great controversy. May God continue to bless you! |
