The Peacemakers

When we hear the word peacemaker, we often think of someone who can resolve conflicts and disputes. Yet, as He often does, Jesus had a broader meaning when He spoke a blessing on these “sons of God.” Matthew 5:9.

Jesus is called the “Prince of Peace” in Isaiah 9:6, and He came to our world to reconcile with a planet full of people rebelling against the government of Heaven. His mission is to restore peace in the hearts of those who are willing to allow His divine grace to purge their sin. Through faith, “we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 5:1. “There is no other ground of peace than this.” Mount of Blessing, 27.

“He who is at peace with God and his fellow men cannot be made miserable.” Mount of Blessing, 27. Envy, evil suspicions, and hatred have no place in the heart of someone ruled by Heaven’s peace. The peace overflowing from such a person’s heart will extend its blessed effect to all within their sphere of influence, leading others to Christ.

Jesus came to reconcile the world to God, and He has “committed to us the word of reconciliation.” 2 Corinthians 5:19. We are sent into this world of darkness with a message of peace. “Whoever, by the quiet, unconscious influence of a holy life, shall reveal the love of Christ; whoever, by word or deed, shall lead another to renounce sin and yield his heart to God, is a peacemaker.” Mount of Blessing, 28.

Those who “are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” Romans 8:14. Peace is one of the fruits of the Spirit, and the spirit of peace is evidence of our connection with Christ. The loveliness of Jesus’ character will reveal to the world that we are among His children.

I pray that God will make us peacemakers in this world in revolt!
