Letter from Mike: Nicaragua – April 2025

“Christ declares to His followers: ‘Ye are the light of the world.’ Matthew 5:14. To every soul that accepts Jesus the cross of Calvary speaks: ‘Behold the worth of the soul: “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”’ Mark 16:15. Nothing is to be permitted to hinder this work.” Counsels for the Church, 58.

Recently, I traveled to Nicaragua to learn about the work there and to conduct a training workshop for the pastors. Despite the current restrictive government, the pastors and laypeople continue to push the work forward, by faith remaining confident that the Three Angels’ Messages will ultimately triumph. Evangelism is the leadership’s top priority, and they have plans to expand their outreach programs, including their radio programming—one of the most powerful tools for spreading God’s final warning message.

Adventist Radio, located in the heart of Managua, Nicaragua, has already brought countless people to the Lord. More than just sharing prophecy, facts, and figures, Adventist Radio brings hope to those desperately in need of Jesus’ love and mercy.

Radio preaching proved to be life-saving for Damaris in Nicaragua. In darkness, she considered ending her life to escape her struggles. Then, she happened to hear a message on Adventist Radio about the parable of the prodigal son. As the pastor vividly described the story, Damaris saw herself in the young man who had fallen into despair. Listening intently, she heard how the son came to his senses and thought of his father. When he finally returned home, his father welcomed him with open arms. This parable touched Damaris’s heart profoundly. She began to see a way out of the darkness that had overwhelmed her.

Calling the radio station, she asked for the address of her nearest Seventh-day Adventist church. When she arrived, she met with the pastor, who invited her to a small group Bible study. As she attended the lessons and learned the distinctive truths of the Bible, she gradually embraced the message of salvation. Before long, she excitedly told her children about what she was learning.

Her son, Yasser, started attending the Bible study and absorbed the teachings like a sponge. By the third study, prompted by the Holy Spirit, he asked the lay worker about being baptized. The lay worker agreed to conduct separate Bible studies with him to prepare him for baptism.

After completing the studies, Yasser was baptized. A few months later, Damaris’s daughter also accepted the faith and was baptized. However, Damaris herself had not yet made that commitment. She faithfully attended church every Sabbath and participated in all the Bible studies, but she hesitated because she was in a relationship with a man who was not her husband. The church prayed for her and supported her at every step. Eventually, Damaris decided to marry the man she was living with. Shortly afterward, her husband began Bible studies and was baptized as well.

Radio is a powerful tool for reaching the hearts of those we may not otherwise meet face to face. Please pray for the work in Nicaragua. Currently, we are raising funds to hire dedicated Bible workers who can assist the pastors with this year’s aggressive evangelism plan. Please consider how you can help advance God’s work in Nicaragua!

Yours in bringing hope to troubled hearts!

How You Can Help!

Bible workers in Nicaragua are bringing hope to remote communities, often walking or riding public transportation to share the gospel with families who have never heard it before. With limited resources, they offer Bible studies, prayer, and encouragement to those in desperate need. Your support can provide transportation, study materials, and basic sustenance for these faithful servants. Every dollar empowers them to reach more souls with the message of Christ’s love. Will you help sustain their mission? Together, we can bring light to the darkness and build God’s kingdom in Nicaragua—one home, one heart at a time.
