Letter from Mike: Ecuador – March 2025

“Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth—to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people.” Revelation 14:6.

I shared recently about the work in Ecuador, but having just returned from a visit there, I am excited to provide a firsthand account of how the work is progressing by God’s grace. Through your generous donations, the church in Gualchan is steadily taking shape and growing. Another thrilling project is the work among the Quechua people.

Gospel work for the Quechua people of Ecuador began in 1952, when Jim Elliot began his mission among them. This godly young man lived an extraordinary life and paid the ultimate price—his life—to bring the gospel to this unreached tribe. His story serves as a powerful example for Christians, and today his work continues. Fernando and his wife, Dr. Gaby, have made significant contact with these indigenous people to minister to their needs. Another family is working to print Spirit of Prophecy books in the Quechua dialect to reach them with the written word.

In one of the Quechua villages, Dr. Gaby and Fernando conducted a health brigade. Many precious souls attended, listened intently, and received medical treatments. Numerous among them spoke about Bible truth with the laymen. Many received Spirit of Prophecy books, but due to financial constraints, further distribution has stalled as there are no funds to reprint them.

Raphael, a dedicated Bible worker, has been serving among the Quechua people for several years. A few months ago, he shared two books with an evangelical pastor of the Quechua people, who received them with an open heart. The pastor read the books and accepted their message. The truth about the Sabbath particularly resonated with him, leading him to share it with his congregation. Clearly, the Holy Spirit was moving in a miraculous way, as the entire congregation embraced the message and eagerly sought to learn more about the Sabbath.

The books of Daniel and Revelation, once shrouded in mystery for this evangelical assembly, now became subjects of special interest. Raphael began working closely with the church’s pastor to teach the distinctive truths of the Adventist Church. As light dawned upon this congregation, they collectively declared their desire to become Seventh-day Adventists. However, when village leaders and other influential community members learned of their decision, opposition arose. The Quechua leaders informed the church that they could not bring the Seventh-day Adventist faith into their village.

Please pray that God will soften the hearts of these leaders, breaking Satan’s hold in these villages. And please consider how you can help. Jim Elliot longed to see the gospel preached to the Quechua people, and now we have the chance to bring them the true everlasting gospel. To print urgently needed books in their language will take $8,000. You can also help hire additional full-time Bible workers to carry this message to more of the Quechua. Please keep this special tribe in your prayers!

Yours in faithfulness to the truth!

How You Can Help!

God is opening doors among the Quechua people, with entire congregations embracing the Sabbath truth. Yet, opposition is strong, and resources are scarce. We urgently need $8,000 to print Spirit of Prophecy books in their language and support full-time Bible workers. Your generous donation will help bring more Quechua churches into the light of the Three Angels’ Messages, strengthening their faith and equipping them with the everlasting gospel. Please pray and consider giving to this vital mission. Together, we can share God’s truth with those longing for His word.
