Letter from Mike: Colombia – March 2022

“When properly conducted, the health work is an entering wedge, making a way for other truths to reach the heart. When the third angel’s message is received in its fullness, health reform will be given its place in the councils of the conference, in the work of the church, in the home, at the table, and in all the household arrangements. Then the right arm will serve and protect the body.” The Colporteur Evangelist, 72.

Brother Juvenal is the new evangelism coordinator for the Las Delicias Foundation in Colombia, South America, and he and his team of Bible workers were planning where they should concentrate their efforts. After much prayer, they felt God leading them to plant a new church in the nearby town of Barragán, where there are no Seventh-day Adventist churches. To start out, Juvenal and his team went door to door selling bread and other health food products, which allowed them to enter the people’s homes and evaluate the spiritual and physical needs of the community. Due to the ongoing pandemic, the people were very open to the health message and to advice about how to stay healthy. Not only this, but the workers found that the people were also very open to spiritual ideas. Soon they had started many Bible studies.

Marco was one of several people with whom the workers started Bible studies while canvasing the town. This friendly older gentleman invited Juvenal to come in for a visit, and the two became friends. Juvenal started weekly studies with Marco, but the God of the Bible was drawing him to the streams of living water, and Marco could not get enough of the truth. Juvenal agreed to come three times per week, and for several months they studied the Three Angels’ Messages together. When they came to the study on the Sabbath, the Holy Spirit had already prepared Marco’s heart to receive it with joy. The man could hardly believe that he had been wrong about the Lord’s true day all his life, and he was ready to worship with God’s people the very next Sabbath! With each passing Bible study, Marco’s hunger for the truth only grew, until eventually he asked Juvenal if he could be baptized.

Many others in Colombia are waiting to hear the everlasting gospel and not the counterfeit gospel of the Catholic Church. We need your prayers and support to plant more churches in this Catholic-dominated country! If you are impressed to give to the work in Colombia, mark your gifts “Colombia Workers” or “Colombia Church Plant.”

Yours in planting the standard of truth!
